Last campout of 2015 and it is always one of the boys favorites. We will be going to Camp Michaels which is a Dan Beard Council property in Northern KY. The theme is Wilderness Survival. Boys will hear a lot of detail over the next two troop meetings about what they are permitted to bring, how to pack, how to build a shelter and cooking constraints.
The Camp Michaels – Nov 2015 – Consent Form needs to be returned NO LATER than Tuesday 11/17.
Scouts should be working on their Merit Badge pre-work for Merit Badge Challenge. This is especially true those that have a 90 day requirement. Follow this link MBC Pre-work Details to get specific details about what needs to be done for each Merit Badge.
Today is election day and the fellowship hall is being used as a polling station. Head to our usual back up room for PLC and our Troop meeting.
Troop elections are tomorrow night. Make sure you attend and have your voted counted.
The Troop has been registered for Merit Badge Challenge (thank you Mr. Zack). An e-mail was sent out to those with Scouts signed up for Merit Badge Challenge 2016. If you didn’t receive an email and were expecting to, please contact Mr Zack to get registered.
For those that received an email, please book all three Saturdays mornings (January 30, February 6 and February 20, 2016, and Snow Date February 27) into your family calendar to ensure that your Scout will be available. Most, if not all of the Merit Badges have pre-work that should be done PRIOR to the 1/30 date. The below merit badges have more significant requirements that will need to be addressed/started soon. Those with a 90 day requirement means that this piece will need to be started within the next few weeks. The pre-work information is attached. Boys can either get a merit badge booklet out of our closet (if available) OR look them up on-line (meritbadge.org) to figure out what they need to work on ahead of time. Boys will be reminded of all this information in upcoming Troop meetings.

Hello all,
Merit Badge Challenge (MBC) registration for the Sycamore location opens on October 15th. This is the location that our Troop will attend together on 1/30/16, 2/6/16 & 2/20/16. If these dates do not work for your son, there are other options throughout the city that Mr. Zack can help with information.
At the Troop meeting on Tuesday October 6th, all boys that plan to attend the Sycamore MBC with the Troop will be signing up for their Merit Badges. Attached is more information along with the form. IF boys want to complete the form ahead of time, that is fine, otherwise we will just do this during the troop meeting on 10/6. We ask that he at least spend a little time this weekend looking through the options and trying to decide what he would like to take. If your son is unable to attend the meeting on the 6th, the drop dead date for forms in 10/13. This will give Mr. Zack time to proof and organize the forms in order to attempt to get everyone their first choice when the registration system opens on 10/15. Mr. Zack will take care of ALL registrations for boys going to the Sycamore location, you do not need to do this on your own. Thanks Mr. Zack for taking on this huge task year after year.

The calendar has been updated with the 2015-2016 camping schedule.
On Saturdays 10/17 & 10/24 – Volunteers are needed at Spook-O-Ree which is held at Cub World from 4:00pm -10:00pm. Boys will receive a Spook-O-Ree Staff T-shirt & dinner, should come dressed up in a Halloween costume and work one of the booths. This is always a good time for our Scouts to volunteer. You can work one or both Saturdays. Council counts on Boy Scout volunteers to keep running this Cub Scout focused event. Sign-up sheet will be at the 9/29 Troop Meeting. The second Spook-O-Ree conflict with our Troop Campout. Our campout should be our priority, no boys should be leaving the campout to work at Spook-0-Ree.
Troop Campout at Rentschler Forest (Butler County). The theme is Olympics. The Webelos II will be invited. The attached permission form needs to be returned by Tuesday October 13
Friday 10/2 – Sunday 10/4 – Volunteers are needed to help out at Cub Scout Pack 20 campout at Cub World. We have been providing 10-12 Boy Scouts every year for as long as I know. This is a fun opportunity to help the Cubs and it gives them an opportunity to see what Boy Scouts can do. You will either be assigned an activity or a Den to assist with. This is NOT difficult but you will need to be somewhat out going, mature and flexible. Friday evening is optional. Saturday is 8:00am – 9:00pm, you can spend the night Saturday night if you wish. There will several adult volunteers from the Troop at the campout but they will be focusing on the Cubs. Our boys will be managing themselves.
