2026 February Ski Trip!

The Troop is excited to do a one-night winter camping experience, paired with a day of skiing.  The troop will meet at the Church at 9:30am on Saturday, February 14th to travel to the campground. After setting up camp and eating lunch, we’ll travel a short distance to Perfect North to ski in the afternoon. The guys will bring a packed lunch for Saturday; and we plan to eat pizza at Perfect North for dinner.   After skiing, we’ll travel back to camp overnight.  Returning on Sunday to the Church for a 10:00am pick-up. Scouts should be prepared for the cold!  Appropriate ski wear and personal camping gear will be required.  A warm sleeping bag, extra blankets and one or two sleeping pads will be helpful.

Medical Forms – it’s annual Refresh time

Instructions for EVERYONE (including new/crossover scouts):

All registered Scouts and Adults need to turn in a refreshed Medical Form, Parts A+B1+B2, which includes a copy of your insurance card (front and back).

Instructions for Summer Camp attendees:

In addition to the items under “Everyone”, all Scouts attending Summer Camp and any Adults spending the night at Summer Camp will need to have Part C completed and signed by a doctor. Please note the due date below and schedule your appointment to turn in your form before the deadline. Many pediatricians will allow you to drop off the form if they have seen your child recently.

Instructions for High Adventure attendees:

In addition to the items under “Summer Camp”, everyone attending the HA Trip need to bring Part D to their Part C physical.

Medical Forms Due Date:

June 11th. You can turn in your updated medical form at any regular Tuesday meeting.

Med forms for non-Troop activities:

If your Scout will be participating in any Scouting events individually (NYLT, OA, Camp staff, 2nd week at summer camp, etc) it is recommended that you make a second copy of their med form to use for these events. The Troop can’t “loan out” the completed medical forms, as the forms have a tendency to get lost or forgotten. The Troop needs to maintain these for all troop activities and campouts.

Rescue meds reminder:

If your Scout has rescue medications (such as inhalers or Epi-pens), please make sure they are un-expired.

Campout – Govenor Bebb MetroPark (3/17-3/19)

What:    Cabin camping with newly crossed-over AOL scouts
When:   March 17-19Where:  Governor Bebb MetroPark  Gov Bebb WebsiteMap: Governor Bebb Murstein Group Cabin Troop 209 is excited to welcome newly crossed-over scouts with a cabin campout.  Scouts will gather, in full Class A uniforms, at the church at 4:30 pm on Friday, March 17th.  The scout trailer will be loaded and we will travel as a group to the cabin.  While this is a cabin, it is only heated by the wood-burning fireplace.  We do plan to have the fire going but understand it can only do so much.  So please keep a careful eye on the weather reports and pack accordingly.  Below are a few comments from the park district about the cabin.

Consent form is due Tuesday, March 14th
General info about the cabin:Located in Morgan Township at 1979 Bebb Park Lane, Okeana, Ohio, the Murstein Group Cabin is a rustic cabin that accommodates approximately 25 people. Check-in is any time after 3:00PM and check-out is by Noon on the day of departure. The bunks are wood-slat and have no mattresses, so campers may want to bring a tent pad, blanket, etc. to sleep on. There is a large main room with picnic tables, benches along the walls that fold down into additional beds, and a large wood burning stove. The kitchen is equipped with an electric stove and refrigerator, but no running water or cooking utensils. There is a loft area upstairs that holds about 17 bunks. There is electric in the cabin, but no heat. There are no restrooms inside, but a composting restroom facility is located within walking distance. An outdoor charcoal grill and fire ring with benches are accessible behind the cabin. Potable water is available at the water spigot located near the park maintenance office.
I’m attaching the campground map showing the location of the cabin and a trail map.  The Scouts may want to plan a hike!!  …there are several fairly short/easy hikes on the property.
