Scout Sunday is coming up on February 11th and we need everyone’s attendance to make it a success!  This is our time to thank Madeira-Silverwood Presbyterian Church for all the support they provide us during the year.  Please plan to attend from 8:45am-12:00 Noon to support the activities for the morning.  All scouts are required to wear their Class A uniforms.  Families welcome to attend!

9am service – We’ll need 1 scout to read during the worship service (see Mr. Torborg, if interested).  Everyone else will either attend the service for support or help set-up for breakfast.

10am pancake breakfast – We need all scouts to help prepare, serve, and clean-up.

11am service – We’ll need 1 scout to read during the worship service (see Mr. Torborg, if interested).  Others will attend the service for support or clean-up from breakfast.

December Campout: Lock-In

What: December “lock-in”

Where: Camp Friedlander Youth Staff Cabins and Scene 75

When: December 9-10

Our “lock-in” is going to be bigger and better this year.  We have moved it from the church out to Camp Friedlander.  We will stay in the camp staff cabins where our favorite counselor “tent” during summer camp.  Each cabin has heat but we still need to pack carefully.  The heat will not be like what we are accustomed to at home.  I think each cabin might be in the upper 50s.  So be sure to pack a sleeping bag with appropriate cold-weather clothing!

Our schedule will be setting up camp in the cabins and then driving out to Scene 75 in Milford for a couple of hours of indoor gaming.  Each scout will have $25 of Scene 75 credit to spend as they please.  Afterward, we will return to Camp Friedlander for a pizza dinner.  Saturday morning we will eat breakfast and begin work on our service project.  This year will be constructing 600 sandwiches for the non-profit organization—Our Daily Bread.  400 sandwiches will be meat/cheese, while 200 will be peanut butter and jelly.  The Troop will be providing the sandwich supplies…the scouts will become the “chefs”.  The consent and waiver form is due Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

The consent form can be found in the link below.

Elections – Date Change
Originally we planed to have Troop elections on 10/16. They are now scheduled for 10/23. There is a choir concert on the 16th that a significant number of the boys are performing in.
Spook-o-ree
Spook-o-ree is a halloween themed event for Cub Scouts and they are looking for Boy Scouts to volunteer. Volunteers get dinner, a staff t-shirt, and a patch. Oct 20th is the suggested date as the other overlaps our Oct camp out. More info: http://www.danbeard.org/spookoree , click “Be on staff”. Scouts need to provide there own transportation.
Camp Conservation Day
Help maintain and improve Camp Freidlander. On Nov 10th is camp conservation day. Help plant trees, remove honeysuckle, etc. The event runs from 9am – 2pm and they provide lunch. The Troop will meet at MSPC at 8:15am and drive to Camp Friedlander and return around 2:30pm. This project counts as conservation hours.
Philmont 2017 – 50 miler award
Philmont crews from 2017, you have one last award you can complete. You have most of the 50 miler award done. All that’s left is to finish the conservation hours requirement. If you attend all of Camp Conservation day on Nov 10th you will complete the required hours.
