Spook-o-ree
Spook-o-ree is a halloween themed event for Cub Scouts and they are looking for Boy Scouts to volunteer. Volunteers get dinner, a staff t-shirt, and a patch. Oct 20th is the suggested date as the other overlaps our Oct camp out. More info: http://www.danbeard.org/spookoree , click “Be on staff”. Scouts need to provide there own transportation.
Camp Conservation Day
Help maintain and improve Camp Freidlander. On Nov 10th is camp conservation day. Help plant trees, remove honeysuckle, etc. The event runs from 9am – 2pm and they provide lunch. The Troop will meet at MSPC at 8:15am and drive to Camp Friedlander and return around 2:30pm. This project counts as conservation hours.
Philmont 2017 – 50 miler award
Philmont crews from 2017, you have one last award you can complete. You have most of the 50 miler award done. All that’s left is to finish the conservation hours requirement. If you attend all of Camp Conservation day on Nov 10th you will complete the required hours.

April Camp out – Red River Gorge: Via Ferrata

Greetings all,

For the April camp out we will be heading to Red River Gorge to do some climbing. But not just any rock climbing. We will be climbing horizontally via ferrata! To see what I’m talking about check out https://www.southeastmountainguides.com/experience/via-ferrata/

When: Apr 20-22
What: Rock climbing via ferrata
Where: Meeting at MSPC at 4:30pm
Forms due: Tuesday Apr 10th.

Drivers: We will need some parents to drive. It’s about a 3 hour drive so I encourage anyone willing to drive to stay and camp with us. We can supply a tent if you need one. If you are willing to drive, but don’t want to climb, cross out climbing on the adult portion of the signup and write in $0.

To participate your Scout needs to turn in 3 things:

  1. Signed Troop permission slip
  2. Signed south-east waiver
  3. Photo copy of drivers license of the parent who signed the waiver (front only)

These folks are diligent with their paperwork and having the photocopy proves mom/dad signed it.

Ski day at Prefect North

Greetings all,

The Troop’s January activity will be a day trip to Perfect North for some skiing and tubing. The fee includes skiing, tubing, equipment rental, and a group lesson. So even if you have never skied before, this a good time to give it a try. Food is not included so Scouts should bring their own brown bag lunch. They may also bring money for snacks.
Please arrive at the Church by 7:45 am for a 8 am departure.
We will leave Perfect North ~3pm to return to the church around 4pm
Attached are the troop permission slip, Perfect North waiver and, equipment rental. All 3 are due by our Troop meeting on 1/16.

Please return the attached permission slip by our meeting on Tuesday Nov 28. You also need to use the link below to fill out Climb Time’s waiver on-line.

*http://www.ctoba.com/  CLICK Waiver in the upper right hand side of the website.  It is IMPORTANT that all parents go back to their email after they fill out the waiver to confirm the submission as it is an electronic waiver.
Light up Maderia
Is a Troop service project where we serve hot chocolate and tend a fire at the Light up Madeira festivities. It’s an excellent way for us to give back to the city that supports us so well. We have multiple shifts.
9-12: Meet at MSPC and help with setup
12-2: Meet at BBQ depot
2-4: Meet at BBQ depot
4-6:30: Meet at BBQ depot, pick up at MSPC. Helps with take down
If your Scout is unable to attend climbing or doesn’t want to then the 9-12 and 12-2 shifts would be ideal. Parents are welcome to help as well.
Please email Mr Z to sign up for a shift or at a Troop Meeting.
