Reminder: this coming Tuesday, May 19th  7:00-8:15 at MSPC will be our Spring Court of Honor. Please join your son in celebrating the achievements of the boys in the troop. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

There is a lot going on between now and the end of the summer that will be discussed. Perfect opportunity to hear the details, ask questions and get involved.

Meeting UPDATE Tuesday May 11 2015

Hello,

Due to a large church event on Tuesday May 12 (tomorrow), we will be unable to meet at the church for our weekly troop meeting.

We will be meeting at the same time but at Sellman Park (behind the middle school). This is a location change from what the boys were told at last Tuesday’s meeting.

If there are any questions, please let me know.

Camping: Camp Craig: Camp Gadget/Pig Roast

Hello all,

Attached is the permission form for the May 15-17 Campout and Family Pig Roast at Camp Craig (near Camp Friedlander). The theme of the campout is Medieval/Camp Gadgets.

As a part of the campout we will also be having a BBQ Pig Roast at the Berndsen Shelter (Camp Craig) on Saturday night starting at 5:30pm that all families are invited to attend. After the family dinner, we will be having a campfire with skits, songs and a very nice American Flag retirement ceremony.

In order to get the “pig guy” the correct headcount so he knows how big of a pig to purchase/cook, we need a firm headcount by 5/5. The permission forms are due back by the 5/5 Troop Meeting. On the permission form, there is a line to indicate the number of family members attending the pig roast, please do NOT include your son or adult who is camping in that family count, they will be included already as part of the # of Scouts or Adults Camping. Kids 5 years old and under eat for free, don’t include them in your count either.

Committee members are encouraged to attend as you are an important part of our troop!

Pig Roast Menu includes:

  • Fresh pork
  • Buns
  • Sauce
  • Baked Beans
  • Macaroni Salad
  • Cole Slaw
  • Drinks

Troop will supply all paper products.

April Campout: Red River Gorge

This is a “don’t miss campout”, yes, I probably feel that about all campouts but this one has a special location that is really awesome.  About 4-5 years ago I was introduced to a local man who ,along with a few partners, owns private land very near to the RRG. Their property holds all the amenities that a person needs for a great weekend. Plenty of space to camp, plenty of space to play and plenty of BEAUTIFUL space to walk and enjoy nature. Their property has one of the most unbelievable views of a canyon, a waterfall and a cave (all on one property). This is NOT a “hiking” campout but we will be doing some walking/hiking to the attractions on their property. Friday evening will be a cracker barrel and Saturday evening will be a patrol cook-off and games.

The owners are VERY generous to open up their property to other Scouters and very much want us to use the entire property as it was meant to be, as a camping adventure for all.

Attached is the permission form for the April Campout (4/24-4/26) to the Red River Gorge area. Completed forms must be returned at the troop meeting no later than 4/21.
